Honorary consul of the Republic of South Africa
to Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region
The meeting of the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg E.D. Grigoriev took place in Smolny with the delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in the Russian Federation headed by the adviser of the political department of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in the Russian Federation Ms. Mkhonza Pindile Vilgelmina. The purpose of the visit of the delegation to St. Petersburg is the official presentation of the appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of South Africa to St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region Borisenko Vladimir.
The meeting was attended by the Counselor of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg Agafonov A.S. and Vice-President of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry Lebedeva E.N.
During the conversation Grigoriev E.D. informed the guests about the development of cooperation between St. Petersburg and the Republic of South Africa in the field of trade and economic relations and the city’s interest in expanding economic ties, especially in the field of pharmaceuticals.
Ms MKHONZA Pindile Vilgelmina expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to visit Smolny and noted the significant role that St. Petersburg plays in the development of relations with South Africa, being the center of trade cooperation. In addition, Ms Mkhonza P.V. announced the intention of the South African side to continue participation in the St. Petersburg Cultural Forum, tourist events held in St. Petersburg, online conferences planned by the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the participation of representatives of the business community of St. Petersburg and South Africa.
Also was noted the active position of the partner city of St. Petersburg in South Africa – Cape Town on the development of interaction. Was agreed to hold joint online events with partners which will contribute to expanding contacts and increasing the tourist flow.
